character.
Full Name: Floyd Enid Huntington (Floyd Jr by family)
Date of Birth, Age: Augst 11 / 1840, 27
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual, mostly [but she thinks Dell makes a hot boy]
Ethnic Background: Welsh and Dutch
Occupation: One of Eli Donovan's loyal Stable Hands at the Donovan Stables and Horse Farm.
Current Residence: Her parents Ranch just outside of town. She rides her pony mare, Shortstack to work everyday.
Appearance: Standing five foot two (four, in her work boots) and having a rather round figure, Floyd looks very young for her age. Even though she's 27 most people mistake her for somebody who's barely twenty. And while that's nice enough it gets a little tiring at the saloon when the bar keep wants to tease her. With a round face and long wavy brown hair and green eyes. While she's quite pretty, she she doesn't take much care in her appearance. She's more likely found with a smudge of mud on her cheek and dirt under her fingernails. She's okay with that though, as it suits her better then fancy dresses and make up with her line of work.
She likes pretty things though, she just doesn't particularly think owning any is all that practical. She loves to see the girls in town who are dressed up and sometimes envies them for having the time to be able to look so pretty. Though she'd never, ever trade in her mucking around clothes for a silly dress, she doesn't feel there's anything in looking. Wearing mostly trousers and long sleeved men's shirts, rolled up to the elbows, mostly pilfered from her father's closet, Floyd owns exactly one dress, and that was for when she was in her sister Sofie's wedding party...and it's dirty because she managed to fall over in to the mud when she was getting their carriage ready to ride off in for their holiday after the reception. She also owns one skirt and one blouse for the occasional Sunday when she goes to church and for funerals.
She walks rather tall, with good posture, but when she's sitting around with the boys, she's usually fairly slumped, making her tiny figure even smaller. She has a habit of kicking off her shoes though, when she's done work and walking in the grass barefoot. This isn't probably the best of ideas, considering that's where the animals graze, but she's yet to sink herself ankle deep in any sort of animal waste and so she's content to do as she does.
PB: Ginnifer Goodwin
Personality: Floyd can be described as a real fire cracker of a girl. She's sharp, witty and despite her stature, quite a strong personality. She's also got a rather sweet side to her, mostly innocent, where when she's presented with idea's she's not familiar with, she's more then interested, showing a great amount of enthusiasm. An eternal optimist, she's always got a great, up beat personality. She's rarely, ever caught in a bad mood. Her parents have taught her that southern hospitality, and she naturally likes to help people. She's got her manners as she was raised right, but she also won't hesitate to break them if the situation needs be (She is a southern girl, ya hear!). Her strong mindedness often will get her in to trouble though, and she's apt to not back down from a challenge if need be. She tries to tackle things with everything she's got.
Her family is most important to her, she cares for her parents very deeply, and even though they're getting on in their years, she encourages them to be active and busy. She'd do just about anything for them. She realizes that she has sisters that all could help out, but she figures because she was supposed to be 'the boy' of the family, she bares the responsibility to take care of them. She has no animosity towards this and rather enjoys being able to help out.
She can be tenacious and vivacious, both things that sometimes can get her in to trouble. She however, makes up for her sins by being a very warm hearted person who is dependable, a hard worker and above all, honest. While she didn't get a formal education, and was home schooled like her sisters by her mother, she did finish what her high school equivalence would be. She was terrible with math and although she can read, her comprehension isn't the best. She tries though, and rarely comes off sounding uneducated, generally just sweet and naive. She just doesn't seem all that interested in books and that sort of learning, she's practical smart, and is able to solve many problems around a farm or ranch.
Special Skills/Weapons Used: She's naturally very good with horses and seems to just be able to read them very well. She's incredibly handy and can work with tools easily. She's good at fixing things and at hard manual labor. She's got a good left hook on her and though she tends to avoid being caught in them, she's seen her fair share of bar fights. Her sister Addison also, taught her how to shoot a gun with impeccable aim.
Weaknesses: Following orders. Ask her to do something, and she's more then happy to help, but order her around and watch out. She's not going to let anybody tell her what to do. She's also not very good at being lady like, it takes a great effort for her to be able to not act like a tom boy. She's also not very good with math. She can count but she's not good at the rest of it. She trusts Mister Donovan to be paying her correctly because otherwise she really wouldn't be able to tell. She isn't the most well read of people, so that tends to sometimes hinder conversation that's more intellectual.

Floyd Jr was born to her parents Enid and Floyd Sr Huntington, the eleventh try in their desperation for a son. Mister Huntington was willing to give it one more go, but Mrs Huntington had other ideas. With Floyd laying in the crook of one arm she pulled a gun with the other, pointed it at him and told Mister Huntington that if he wanted to keep his precious bits, he best not come near her with them. Named after her father, for there would be no more tries for a son, Floyd grew up in a fairly stable environment, for having ten other sisters. Growing up in Georgia, her parents had themselves a trading business that specialized in livestock and horses. While most of her sisters only worked on the ranch/farm to be obliging, Floyd loved every minute of it.
When Floyd was ten, her sister Margie passed away during her first child birth. Her parents were devastated as they had never lost somebody so important to the family before. Business wasn't doing so well and the family was restless to start again, as so many others were doing because of the gold rush. So taking the daughters that wanted to come: Allie, Gladys and Peg, and the ones that were too young to be left: Addison and Floyd Jr, the family headed towards New Shelby.
Along the way, Allie found herself becoming wayward and ended up running off one night while her family was asleep with a man she had met that evening during dinner. The family never found out where she went to and stayed for days looking for her. The tragedy of having lost two daughters was a burden, but after a year of living where they had last seen their daughter, they moved on and managed to successfully reach New Shelby in 1851.
The gold rush was booming then and the Huntington's managed to make a fair bit of money. However when the gangs ran everybody out of town, the Huntington's were one of the few families who stayed. Their house was outside of town a few miles, where they had purchased land cheaply. They managed to sustain themselves on the money they had made while the gold rush had been big over the next few long years. Eventually the daughters started to marry off and settle in to their lives and homes, even having children.
Floyd however, being a tomboy and so young looking, she rarely attracted male attraction that was lasting. Mostly because she really wasn't the marrying type. Growing up though she had several boyfriends but none of them stuck around for long, which suited her just fine. Floyd was just fine as she was, living with her parents and helping out around their house. They kept a small amount of livestock, but even that eventually became too costly, they kept only one animal, Floyd's horse, Pepper, that allowed her to do errands for cash in town. When the town started to repopulate in 1864, Mister and Mrs Huntington were far too old to run a live stock ranch and Floyd was only one person. She found more and more people to do odd jobs for and she managed to keep her parents in money that way. It wasn't until Pepper got sick and could no longer be ridden did they begin to worry. However, it was the perfect timing as there were many job openings becoming available in town. Floyd set out to find herself some more permanent employment.
When Floyd heard that there was a man in town who ran the stables that was looking for hands, she jumped at the chance to start working for him. Heading out for an interview, she ended up amongst a lot of young men who were also there for a chance at the position. Figuring she still stood a chance, even though she was a lot smaller then the people there, she waited she heard that the man's name was Mister Donovan. As usual sue was impatient and so, Floyd wandered over to the pasture where some of the horses were and started to talk to them. She spent so much time over there just chatting at the horses, she hadn't noticed that most of the people who were waiting to meet with Mister Donovan were gone and she was one of the few left.
Mister Donovan approached the young looking girl who seemed to just be there with one of the other men, perhaps their sister or such. She had four horses all over at the fence and she was talking to them in her southern drawl like they were people. When the man said his hello's, Floyd wasn't embarrassed at all that she'd just been telling the horses all about her journey's up to live in New Shelby. She introduced herself to the man and when he asked why she was there, she told him she was here to fill a position as "The best little mucker you'll ever employ". Amused by her enthusiasm, but fairly sure she'd not be able to keep up, considering her size, Mister Donovan gave her a chance the next day to prove what she claimed to be.
Floyd returned to the Donovan Stables and Horse Farm that day and worked herself almost dead. She mucked out all the stalls, fed, brushed and cared for the horses, managed to fix a broken gate to one of the horse stalls and figured out why one of Mister Donovan's new mares seemed to keep coming up lame. Floyd definitely knew her way around horses. However what seemed to be the most amusing thing about Floyd was her innocence in thinking that talking to the horses was the most natural thing in the world. She carried on conversations with them as if they were responding back. She even scolded one horse, who had whinnied at her, for sassing her back. While other's whistled while they worked, Floyd sang to inhabitants of the stables and the horses seemed to listen. It was almost as if she had a gentle bond with them.
Mister Donovan decided after her impressive first day of work, that Floyd would be one of his main stable hands, who'd be employed by him full time. Excited about this she gave him a giant hug and kiss right on the lips, as Floyd had never been one to be shy around affection and did a little jig. Since then, she's worked on Mister Donovan's stable without incident, enjoying the work immensely and finding it rather satisfying.
For the last year, she's been working at Eli's stable quite happily. After a few months worth of work, she managed to use her savings to purchase herself a pony, who she named Shortstack, and she rides her girl to and from work, as it's a lot easier then walking. She's dated a little, now that she has access to town a lot easier with her mare. She spends a fair bit of time at the saloon. Her most recent ex was an Asian man visiting from the orient. He taught her all about Asia and she was rather enthralled by him. He taught her about Buddhism and meditation and she's taken to it quite a bit. She's very fond of the idea of reincarnation and she meditates daily during her lunch hour, sitting on top of the stable's roof.
