"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Back To Basics:

Full Name: Molly Sue Ashwood.

Nicknames: Molly Scribbles by her brothers, because she's always scribbling away on a piece of paper, or just Molls.

Pen Name: Cynthia Trimble (she only uses this fake name when she writes for the paper, because she doesn't want people knowing it's her).

DOB: August 27, 1846.

Age: 20.

Sexual Preference: Heterosexual.

Left/Right/Ambi: Right.

Ethnic Background: British and French.

Occupation: Journalist at MacNamara Press and Co.

The Look:

Molly has a typical hour-glass shape. She's got the tiniest waist imaginable, though the rest of her from the waist up and from the waist down is just a mess, in her opinion. She's got broad shoulders though not very much up top to entertain the boys with. Not that she would even do that; she makes sure to keep her shirts quite buttoned all the way up, thank you very much. And from the waist down, she has wide set hips and legs she claims are one size only all the way down.

Her dress style (as was hinted above) is extremely conservative though simple. She is very, very insecure about her awkward body and would never even consider showing off to anyone anywhere. She even has issues with her own mother seeing her naked, as she believes her mother simply does it to poke fun at her for her odd shape. One can always tell when Molly is a-comin' when you can hear the long line of sneezes from a mile away. Tissues are always overflowing out of her pockets as she carries loads of them around everywhere. You never know when allergies will strike!

One very distinct quality about Molly is her flaming red hair. If the ultra conservative dress code and the attack of the sneezes doesn't announce Molly's arrival, then being blinded by her bright red hair certainly would! While she tends to keep it short, it is still brilliant when the sun hits it. Though on the straight side, it tends to curl a bit at the ends, since it's so short. Molly adds to this by curling it herself, some times unconsciously when she's nervously twirling her hair around her finger.

Not a very big or tall girl, Molly can get lost in a crowd if she has the right cover for her hair on. Her hair is what usually gives her away, but if she's got something over it, she tends to blend in with the crowd. This is just fine with her since she tends to shy away from people anyway. She isn't one who particularly likes to be recognized, as she get embarrassed easily and often times for no real reason at all.

The Character:

Personality: Molly can be described as shy, reserved, quiet, level-headed, introspective and your all around sweetheart. "Daddy's sweet lil daisy" as he calls her. She wouldn't hurt a fly, though she's deathly afraid of them. She's deathly afraid of most animals actually, especially snakes. Once CJ was bitten by a snake, and her daddy had to suck the poison out. CJ nearly died but managed to survive. It left poor little Molly quite traumatized though.

Molly is very young at heart. She is naive and selfless and can be easily tricked into doing something that would benefit someone else. She's also incredibly shy, not speaking unless spoken to and just keeping to herself mostly. Her idea of fun is curling up with a good book and reading until her heart's content. She finds comfort in her solitude, because she is so afraid of expressing her true self to people for fear that they would mock her and hurt her. This was probably a complex given to her by her mother, who always put her down for being so weak and sticking to writing instead of at least trying to help around the house.

This is the side to Molly that most everyone knows. However, there is another part of Molly that most everyone knows as well. They just don't know it's Molly at all. Cynthia Trimble writes for MacNamara Press and Co. In her articles, she uses bright, vivid, captivating images to portray her story in a way that will not only inform but also enlighten as well as highly entertain its readers. She expresses herself eloquently, and upon reading a Trimble article, one feels this great fervor and energy to tell the story as so conveyed by the author. So much that the story just about leaps out of the page for everyone to see.

When Molly writes as Cynthia, she feels a freedom unlike anything she's ever felt before. She can say and think and imagine whatever she wants to. She feels more comfortable doing it this way, because it's almost as if someone else is doing it and not her. Not even her family knows about her articles. They know she works at the press, but they believe she simply helps to write certain stories, that they don't even consider her high enough as to give her articles for her own self. Molly figures this is best anyway. If anyone were to find out, she'd probably die of embarrassment. Mr. Hyde is the only one aware of the duality of her pen name.

Molly's strengths lie in her words. When written, her words carry a power beyond that of anything that anyone can comprehend. They compel people and motivate people. Her eloquence is able to touch the lives and hearts of many, as she has a truly wonderful gift. She enjoys doing this as well, because she has a good heart. Knowing she is helping people makes her feel accomplished, and by using a pen name, no one is obliged to feel sorry for her and repay her. This is the greatest feeling for Molly, who desires not what people have to offer but what she has to offer them.

Unfortunately, Molly is not the healthiest person in the world, not by a long shot. She suffers from terrible allergies and often has shortness of breath. She would not be able to do very much physical labor, as she's quite skinny. There is also a bit of trouble with fainting spells. Those can occur at any time with very little or no warning at all. She doesn't enjoy being sick nor does she enjoy the medications given to treat her illnesses. However, she knows she must take them and deal with her sicknesses.

Likes/Dislikes: Reading and writing are her passions in life. She doesn't care about food or music or parties. If she could have a book, a quill and an endless supply of paper for the rest of her life, she would be one happy little jitterbug. She does, however, love her family very much as well as her job. Her mother can be extremely harsh on her, but she loves her just the same. And heaven knows what she'd do if she didn't have her brave, strong brothers to protect her and save her from the perils of the world.

Special Skills/Weapons Used: The quill is mightier than the sword. This hold especially true for young Molly, who has a way of expressing herself gracefully and beautifully, depicting the talent of a writer far beyond her years. As a young child, she was always sickly and weak, thus resulting in many occasions where she was bedridden. And what better thing to do while in bed than to read by the light of a candlestick. Molly's passion of reading soon developed into a gift of writing. It started with fiction, which transcended into investigative pieces of the happenings of her town. It was these pieces that landed her a job with the press.

Weaknesses: Molly is physically weak. She gets winded after just a bit of exertion, making it very difficult for her to help her mother around the house and in the stables. She's terrible at any and all strenuous work. Despite her having great fluidity with the written word (probably being able to out write as well as outwit any author male or female out there), she doesn't do well in verbal arguments. Having always been the shy one, she doesn't take initiative and would rather take the heat and keep quiet than fight back or yell. She's still extremely naive and can be easily manipulated.

Family Life:

Mother: Amelia (nee Whit) Ashwood (54).

Father: Sebastian "Bast" Ashwood (57).

Brothers: Camden James "CJ" Ashwood (26) and Emmett Elliot "Little E" Ashwood (16).

Current Residence: Small home on the outskirts of town with their stable behind them.

The History:

The Ashwoods never had very much. Two horses, a few pigs and a band of loud, rebellious chickens. The family origin was said to have been France and the United Kingdom, though the names were so common, it was difficult to really draw the line between their family and someone else's family. It was a well-known fact, however, that the Ashwoods were simple people, always into agriculture or some form of public service. The current Ashwoods fared no different.

Sebastian and Amelia Ashwood owned a modest stable. The horses were mainly used to rent out to whoever might need them around the town, though on occasion, they'd put their horses up for a race or two throughout the year. The pigs and chickens were used for sustenance of course. CJ, the oldest son, was getting into law enforcement in the town. And then, there was Molly and her younger brother, Little E. Little E, ever since he was old enough to speak in complete sentences, claimed he'd run for government some day. Molly, on the other hand, was an artist.

Eight months and two weeks into Amelia's second pregnancy proved to be quite the frightening time for the current family of three. Amelia began having strange pains in her lower abdomen, and fearing for the worst, called for a local doctor. After several hours of hard labor, Molly Sue Ashwood came into the world. At first, the little girl with green eyes would have difficulty breathing, so Amelia and Bast would take turns holding her upright against them. It was a struggle, especially with a curious 6-year-old looking on.

CJ was the best big brother a sickly girl could ever have. He never once made fun of his little sister for being weak and frail. Instead, he too would take turns holding her in the middle of the night so that his parents could rest. After a while, he even learned how to feed her. Eventually, he would help her learn how to walk and talk and read and write. CJ wasn't the brightest student, but he did try awfully hard to make sure his baby sister was plenty taken care of. Molly was ever so grateful.

At four years old, Molly had grown skinny but not because her parents didn't feed her. The young girl had developed various food allergies. This made it difficult for Molly to gain any weight. However, the family's attention was once again diverted to another baby being born; this one was not quite a handful as Molly was. It still meant another mouth to feed though.

Eventually, time came to pass and Molly finally began going to school. Having already learned quite a bit from her brother, she had begun to teach herself with the books he would bring home. This was the reason, she was so ahead in her class when she first began going to school. Molly had a way of picking up knowledge rather quickly, and immediately, her favorite subject was English. Now, more than ever, she spent quite a bit of her time reading books and learning the technique of writing.

With time, it would grow to be a passion and a bit of an obsession. Unknown to anyone, Molly was also discovering her inner voice. This was the tone and style of writing that she had developed on her own in order to express her deepest, darkest desires, things she would never tell a single soul. Molly was innocent, but she was still exposed to the world around her. And being quiet allowed for her to overhear things that other people would probably completely miss. This was when her investigations first began.

At sixteen, Molly already had an extensive portfolio of all the stories (both fiction and non-fiction) that she had written throughout the course of her life. Her mother would occasionally spot her writing and would tell her to "quit your muckin' about girl, and finish off them chores!" Of course, Molly would try so very hard to finish the chores, though more than once, the heat of the day would cause her to faint. And once she'd come to, it was back to writing. She realized she could utilize her talent in order to get her family some extra money when she walked by Mr. Hyde's press one day.

It was a good thing for Molly that Mr. Hyde was a very nice man. It took her about a month to finally get the courage to go to his press and present him with several of her works. Of course, during the time when he was reading them all over, Molly had to busy herself by looking around the press. She was far too embarrassed to watch him read over some of her more private things, but then again, those were the best things she had ever written. It was imperative that she show him those if she wanted to get a job working for him.

Finally, Mr. Hyde agreed, though Molly had one condition. She would not use her real name in any of the articles she published. That night, she went home and came up with a name for herself. It had to be something far different than her own, so that no one could ever say she was the one writing those articles. She came up with Cynthia Trimble out of thing air and figured that was what her muse was telling her to use as a pen name. In no time at all, Miss Trimble was striking up a storm with her vivacious and captivating articles. She was a star, and no one knew who she was. This, to Molly, was just about the best thing to ever happen to a girl born in a stable house.
