Phoebe Jane Reed Smith

Phoebe Reed was born on August 12, 1835 in Colorado to a lawman and a dance hall girl. She's an only child and was was wed to a man named Rufus in 1850. Rufus moved the two to Bodie, California in 1851, then abandoned Phoebe. That same year she found herself working in the local brothel. She stuck around in the Bodie brothel for 13 years before starting a brothel of her own in 1864. Reed's House is located in New Shelby, California. She's neither a white hat nor a black hat. She's compassionate, fiery, and a Brothel Madam.

Random Factoids

• Never allows new clients to meet with younger/less experienced whores.
• Generally only takes clients which intrigue her. Has however been known to take the occasional Indian/Black/Mexican/Solider/Woman/Whatever when none of the other whores will. She's not the type to force any of her workers to see a client they truly wish not to.
• Has a certain discretion when it comes to her female clients.
• Is not ashamed of having taken on Indian/Black/Mexican/Whatever clients. If you want to make a fuss about this, she's mostly likely to give you a level look and say money is money no matter what color folks handin' it overs hands might be.
• Had all her left toes broken by a horse. Is prone to horse related accidents. Truly does not like the beast.
• Can not make a proper biscuit to save her life. She will however still make them and offer them to others.
• While she thinks some are cute, Phoebe is terrible with children. Babies she can handle alright, but anyone older then 2 and younger then 8 is beyond her. She will give you dirty looks if you try to hand her or leave her alone with anyone between those ages (this is likely because her own daughter died very young).
• Does not take kindly to being called shortened versions of Phoebe, especially Pheebs.
• Smokes hand rolled cigarettes occasionally.
• Was not above trading her services for cigarettes (or something along those lines) instead of money.
